My Daughter's Bedroom

I'm super excited to show you my daughters room.

I made her bedspread about 5 or 6 years ago. I still like it and didn't want to make a new one. At the same time, my daughter (9) has her own ideas of what her room should be. She wanted blue walls. I wanted to keep the purple bedspread. Hopefully it all works together.

See the tree on the wall - it's fabric. To find out how I did it head on over to Nap Time Crafters. It's embarrassing how many of her ideas I copy.  My daughter saw this idea and she had to have it in her room.  I love the fact that it will come off easily with a little water when she outgrows it and wants something new.

All of the decor has been made and waiting for when we got carpet. Some of the stuff came from her room before and a few things I made new.

The fabric bulletin board I made way back when I did her quilt.

I made the bookshelf during the summer. I actually made it before I made my son's bookshelf. It's the same bookshelf but without the trim and I added another shelf.

I made this cute little lap desk last summer. You can find free plans here.
Here's what the inside looks like.

I'm not trying to show you her mess, rather the dividers that separate the mess.

Speaking of messes, and in the spirit of keeping it real, here's what I found when I took the mattresses off her bed to move it downstairs.

This either speaks to my bad housekeeping skills or it just shows that I'm like everyone else who doesn't think about underneath the bed when cleaning up.  I'm hoping it's the latter.

The shelf was one we had - I just painted it to match.

Another view of the tree.

Look, I actually made some curtains too.  This is the first set of curtains in our entire house.

This mirror had an ugly gold frame. I just painted and glazed it. to match everything else. I made the hook rack forever ago and painted it to match too.

Last of all her dresser.  I did the stenciling on it way back when also.  There's also some stenciling on the top of the headboard - although it's hard to see in the pictures.

So what do you think?  Do you like it?

  9. Very cute. I am redoing my daughter's bedroom and I was thinking of doing a large tree on the wall as I saw in the Pottery Barn catalog, but my daughter is 10 and I am worried she will want a new, more grown up look in a couple of years so I am trying to think of a tween look that isn't too grown up.

    Thanks for sharing your project.
