Build a Christmas tree shadowbox sign with a farmhouse style feel. Using square dowels, a 1 X 2 and just a few other supplies, you can make your own shadowbox in no time. I chose to stain all the wood, except the backing, which I painted white. I love the monochromatic look, with the slight variations in color from the different pieces and grains of the wood.

DIY Thanksgiving Home Decor - Fabric Turkey Craft
Make this adorable turkey wall plaque for your home decor. Using an eclectic mix of fabrics for the tail feathers and some weathered shiplap for the base, you can create a fun and whimsical decoration perfect for the Thanksgiving season. Give this DIY a try.
If you have been searching for DIY Thanksgiving decorations, then you might have run into the same problem I did. I wanted to make a Thanksgiving craft for adults. I found lots of kids crafts, I found lots of tablescapes, but I could find almost nothing in the category of a DIY craft for adults that I would want to display in my home. I wanted a Thanksgiving decorations that I could make and use year after year. So I set out to make one myself. {I also made this EASY Indian corn decor}

Easter Egg Wood Sign
Make an easy DIY Easter Egg Wood Sign, with a few pieces of scrap wood and some laser cut wooden eggs or bunnies. I kept it neutral with wood tones, but you could totally paint them if you desire.
Want to Make your own Easter Egg Wood Sign?
You will need:1 X 2 -7 pieces 10" long
stain
paint sticks
short brads
wooden eggs, bunnies etc.
ribbon
hot glue
1- Begin by cutting your 1 X 2's into pieces 10 inches long. I used up a lot of scraps and cut out a total of 7 pieces. You could 1 X 3's or 1 X 4's - you just won't need as many of them.
2 - Sand the wood. My daughter wanted to help. She didn't like the feel of the vibration of the sander and gave up quickly.
3 - Stain the wood. I used Special Walnut by Minwax. Let dry completely.
4 - To attach the wood together, I simply lined them all up, placed a couple pieces of paint sticks on the back and nailed them in place with short brad nails. I wish I would have added a bit of wood glue first, but I didn't think of it until after the fact. If you don't have a nail gun you could use some wood glue and place something heavy on top until it dries completely.
5 - Hot glue the wooden eggs/bunnies on.
6 - The last think I did was to add a little bow to the bunny.
That's it! Pretty easy. Are you ready for Easter?

How to Make a St. Patrick's Day Banner
Make an easy St. Patrick's Day banner with just a few supplies and a little time.
St. Patrick's Day is one of those holidays that I just love. I think it has something to do with the fact that it's my birthday too :) My mom always made it fun and would pinch us as soon as we woke up. After a few years, we got smart and made sure that we wore green to bed. She always decorated for St. Patrick's Day and of course I follow in that tradition.
As with most holidays, I like to make something new each year to add to the mix of decorations. This is what I came up with this year. A simple banner made with duck cloth, embroidery thread and foam stickers. Super easy and cute!
Before we get started with the tutorial, I'm going to share my first attempt. Sometimes my ideas don't work out as planned.
This was my first idea for a banner. I thought burlap would work great for cross stitching. Turns out it didn't work as well as I thought - the squares are just not very even. And it was taking FOREVER! I gave it up quickly and decided to try something a little easier and quicker, but still with an element of stitching involved.
You will need:
fabric {I used duck cloth canvas}
embroidery thread {DMC906 and 909 were the greens I chose}
needle
scissors
foam stickers
ribbon
Begin by cutting your fabric into 12" X 3 1/2" pieces. Cut as many as you would like for your banner. I did 6. Fold in half, then cut out the triangle piece at the bottom. The point should be two inches from the bottom and centered.
I used all six strands of thread and did a running stitch around the sides and bottom of each pennant. Make sure to leave a little opening along the top for your ribbon. Next add stickers.
Finally, insert a ribbon through the openings at the top. I pinned a safety pin to the end of the ribbon to help me thread it through the fabric.
All that's left to do is hang it. I'll let you in on a little secret... I use painters tape to attach it to the mantle. I'm strongly opposed to putting holes in the mantle that my husband worked so hard to build. So painter's tape does the job, is easily removable with no unsightly holes, and you don't even notice it unless you walk right up to it and look.
Do you decorate for St. Patrick's Day?
This banner could certainly be modified for any holiday, season or event. I'm thinking a little Easter egg banner would be darling.

Somehow, we end up with an excess of plastic Easter eggs each year, even though I never buy them - I always reuse them. I think I'm going to make me an egg garland.
What a precious little bunny family!
