DIY Quilting Frames

Learn how to build inexpensive quilting frames with this easy step-by-step guide. Complete with a cut list and instructions you can make your own quilt frames in an afternoon.

This is the last part of my little mini series on making blankets.  I first showed you how I tie blankets and then how I bind the blankets.

Today I'll share how I made my own homemade own quilting frames. Now, before we start, let me tell you that I made these about two years ago. I'm hoping I can remember well enough how I made them to give you clear instructions. Make sure to ask me if something doesn't make sense. If you are on a budget, and would like some inexpensive quilting frames, then this is for you.

How to Make a Beaded Bracelet

Learn to make a simple bracelet in this beaded bracelet tutorial.
how to make a bracelet

I like to have my kids make things for gifts. I think it helps them to focus more on giving instead of just getting. This year my girls made bracelets for their friends and cousins for Christmas.

Note: This post was originally published on 1-11-2013. It has been updated 7-16-19

This would be a great birthday gift as well. Pair it with a handmade necklace and you're good to go.

Easy Embroidery with Felt Buttons for St. Patrick's Day

Create an easy embroidery project using fabric, thread and felt buttons. Perfect for any season or holiday, simply change up the buttons/thread to coordinate.
Easy Embroidery for St. Patty's Day

This month for our Inspire My Creativity blog hop, the theme is buttons. I didn't really have any ideas of a craft to make with buttons. So I headed to the craft store to see what kind of buttons I could work with.

I came across these felt shamrock buttons and knew I had to make something with them. A quick detour to the embroidery floss section of the store and I had an idea. I would make embroidery art embellished with the shamrocks.

How to Make a Christmas Tree Skirt with a Ruffle

Do you change your tree decor every year? I am on the 5-10 year rotation plan. Last year, I started the nativity tree theme and I foresee making a new nativity ornament each year for several years to come.

My tree for the 5-6 years before the nativity tree, was a white theme. I used white ornaments, each year making something new to add. For that tree, I used a white felt snowflake tree skirt {Go see the tutorial - it's no-sew!} I ended up using that white tree skirt last year, but I felt that I needed a red skirt this year to match the red bulbs and bows that round out my nativity tree.

I looked and looked for a tree skirt that would match and that I liked. I found nothing! So I decided to make one. I found the PERFECT fabric and there was EXACTLY enough left at the store to create the skirt. It was meant to be.

Today's project is part of this month's Inspire My Creativity Link Party. The theme this month is RED, which worked out perfectly since I wanted a new red Christmas tree skirt.

Wooden Christmas Tree Shadowbox Sign

Build a Christmas tree shadowbox sign with a farmhouse style feel. Using square dowels, a 1 X 2 and just a few other supplies, you can make your own shadowbox in no time. I chose to stain all the wood, except the backing, which I painted white. I love the monochromatic look, with the slight variations in color from the different pieces and grains of the wood.

Super Easy Burp Cloths - a quick gift idea

A few months ago, my sister had a little baby girl. I decided to make her a few receiving blankets and some coordinating burp cloths. These burp cloths are so simple to make. Just a little bit of fabric, and a few minutes of time and you'll be ready to gift these burp cloths. I opted to leave mine plain, but you could totally add some trim to make them even cuter!

Grandma's Dinner Rolls

Are you looking for the perfect old fashioned dinner roll? Well this recipe is sure to please. The recipe is my Grandma's.

A few years ago after she passed away, I decided to put together a cook book with all of her recipes. I asked all my cousins and aunts and uncles what their favorite dishes were that she made. The number one thing they all remembered and wanted the recipe for was her rolls. She was famous for them in her little corner of the world.

Easy DIY Earring Display

For a while now, earring storage has been a bit of a problem at our house. There's a shelf in the closet of the bathroom that has been taken over by random earrings. Matches aren't always possible to find. My girls have some darling earrings, but they never wear them because, well, it's too much work to find them.

I recently made myself an jewelry organizer. I had some left over screen, so I made them each a quick little earring display. Now they can see all their earrings at a glance to decide which ones they want to wear.

Fall Leaf Rubbing Pillow - a twist on a classic fall activity

This leaf rubbing pillow takes a favorite fall activity and turns it into pretty and easy fall decor.

Did you ever do leaf rubbing as a kid? I vaguely remember doing it. When trying to come up with a project for this month's challenge (leaves), I remembered doing leaf rubbing art. But I wanted a new twist. I came up with the idea to do the leaf rubbing on fabric and then creating a pillow.

How to Crochet a Hotpad - Super easy version!

When I first got married, my grandma made me several hotpads. That was one of the things she would make all the grandkids. It seems that she was always working on some when we went to visit. Over the years, mine have been used and used and used. They finally have worn too thin and I've given them to the kids to use with their toy kitchen.

So I decided to make myself some new ones. The last time I attempted this as a teenager, my hotpads were not square. I must have missed a bunch of stitches or something. I think I have gotten a little better at crocheting over the years, because this time they turned out fairly well.

DIY Jewelry Organizer - How to Build Your Own

I needed a new way to hold my jewelry. I wanted a pretty display that would be functional as well. I decided to make my own.

I envisioned the front of the display to be little windows for holding earrings that, when opened, would reveal more storage space for necklaces. It turned out even better than I hoped.

Aside from the screen and hinges, I was able to make this completely from supplies and scraps that I already had. I love projects like that!
