Sand Jars

We spent a day at the beach while we were in California.  I took along a ziploc bag for each of the kids to collect shells and sand in.
I found these cute little vases at Walmart for $1. I got the corks at Roberts Crafts.

When we got home we put the smaller shells in the jar with some sand. I purposely did not fill them all they way so that the kids can move the sand around to see the shells they found.  I added a tag and a shell or two and tied it on with twine.

I also made one for myself without any shells. (Since I gave all the ones I found to the kids.)

  3. What a great idea! My mother made us Christmas tree ornaments from the local beaches and I have continued that tradition with beaches we have vacationed to, but I love the idea of the bottle for the children to be able to play with it. Thank you for sharing at Crafty Moms Share!
