Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe - From the Archives

Chocolate Chip Cookies was one of my very first blog posts. My 4th post to be exact. It's still my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. If I need to make a quick dessert this is most likely what I will make. These chocolate chip cookies are the ones my grandma always made - if the recipe is still around then you know it's a good one.

You can check out my original Chocolate Chip Cookie post. There are step by step instructions and my tips to make these yummy cookies.

Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
1 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs
2 t. vanilla
2 1/4 - 2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 t. baking soda
3/4 t. salt
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. walnuts, finely chopped (optional)
Cream together shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and stir. Sift in flour, baking soda and salt. Add chocolate chips and nuts if desired.  Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased pan. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes. Let cool on pan for 2 minutes before placing on wire rack to cool completely.

For those of you who are new: In an attempt to be able to spend more time with my kids for the summer, and not too much time on the computer, I'm sharing something from my first year of blogging each week. I'll just have a picture or two and direct you to the original post for the tutorial.
