How to Make a Measuring Spoon Rack from Barn Wood

My Grandpa was a sheep rancher. When he passed away, we grabbed a few pieces of old barn wood from his property.  I have been holding onto it for a couple years, just waiting for the perfect project.

It seems fitting that a small piece of it now resides in my kitchen, because my Grandma was known for her cooking.

So each time I look at and use this rustic measuring spoon rack, I am reminded of both my Grandpa and my Grandma. I have such fond memories of them both.

How to Make a Measuring Spoon Rack

This measuring spoon rack was a quick and easy project.

First I cut a piece of barn wood to the desired length. I made sure to keep the cut end in the less visible corner.  Next I drilled small holes evenly across the center of the board. I then, screwed in the Rubbed Bronze 1-1/4" Cup Hooks (affiliate link).

I absolutely hate to put holes in my cabinets, so I attached it to the wall with Command Picture Hanging Strips (affiliate link).

I chose to add 8 hooks since I had two sets of measuring spoons. But I'm really loving these Measuring Spoons (affiliate link) - you would only need to add 6 hooks.

I have it hung next to my DIY Spice rack which recently got a makeover. It makes it super convenient when cooking at the stove top to have the measuring spoons right there.

Speaking of makeovers, my whole kitchen got a refreshing new look. More about that coming soon!
