About Me

I'm a wife and a mother of four children. I have been married 14 years and we have three girls, ages 10, 5, and 3, and a boy, age 8.  They keep me on my toes and I love to make things for them and for our home.

I love to read! I ALWAYS have a book on my nightstand waiting for me at the end of the day. It's the perfect way for me to unwind.

I love to bake! This is something that I've learned from my mother and she learned from hers. I hope to pass that legacy on, not just to my girls, but to my son as well. My oldest, at 10, is quite capable in the kitchen. The other three also love to help crack eggs, dump in ingredients and stir.

I love gardening! Now this is not something I thought I would ever say as a teenager. Mostly what I like is the satisfaction that comes from hard work.

I love canning! I love being able to preserve food in the summer and fall months to be able to use during the winter. It's something that has been done through the ages, but our generation is losing that skill, since it is so convenient and sometimes even more cost efficient to buy food from the store. {Don't get me wrong - I buy tons of food too}

I love sewing! One of my favorite things to do for my girls is to make them dresses. Some of the dresses I started out with might make you laugh. But as with everything else, with practice you always see improvement. I've learned a lot about sewing over the years, beginning with my mom teaching me and then just trying to figure things out on my own.

I love building things! My dad built cabinets for a living, we would always help. I also took wood shop classes in high school. We have quite a few basic tools, but I would love to have my own table saw and miter saw. For now I just borrow my brother-in-laws.

I love making my house look nice! That might mean making a new craft to display, or just picking up all the toys and clutter off the floor. You will never see my house in a magazine, but I like to think I've added some nice touches to give it a homey feel.

 My new blogging schedule:

I used to blog 4 times a week. Lately I just feel like I've been so busy with "real" life. By trying to post 4 times a week, I was self-imposing stress into my life. I've decided to cut back to 3 times a week. I've tried it out for a while and I'm enjoying it so much more. Blogging has become fun again. I will blog at least 3 of the following days.

Sundays - Something to Think About Sunday: I will share either a motivational quote, an experience I've had, or a goal I want to work on.

Mondays - Clean Your House in 10 Minutes a Day: Each week I take on a different room in my house and spend 10 minutes each day cleaning or organizing something in that room. On Mondays, I report what I did {or did not do} and how long it took. This is an effort to motivate myself as well as my readers.

Tuesdays - Terrific Tuesday Link Party.

Wednesdays - Craft, recipe or whatever else I've been up to.

Thursdays - Craft, recipe or whatever else I've been up to.

I you have any questions, comments or helpful advice I would love to hear from you. If you are interesting in blog swapping or guest posting, please send me a message.
