HOW TO MAKE A STRIPED PUMPKIN BLOCK

This simple block is made up of four rows.

First let's make the top row with the pumpkin stem.

Note: All seams are 1/4 inch seam allowance.

Watch the video tutorial here.

sewing together the stem row

Select the two 2 1/2" X 4 1/2" strips of white fabric, along with the 1 1/2" X 2 1/2" brown piece.

Lay out the pieces so the two white strips are on the outside and the brown piece in the middle.

Sew together the pieces. Press flat with the seams toward the stem.

Next let's make the top and bottom of the pumpkin.

prepping the fabric

Place the white squares of fabric on the ends of the strips.

With a pencil, draw a line diagonally.

The idea is to make a pumpkin shape.

Draw the lines on the top strip starting in the bottom outer corner to the top inner corners.

For the bottom strip draw the lines starting at the top outer corners to the bottom inner corners.

Next sew the squares to the ends of the strips of fabric. Take care to line up the fabric precisely with the ends of the strips.
