Simple Deviled Eggs Recipe

Deviled eggs are the perfect side dish for bbq's, holidays, potluck dinners or just because you have a hankering. My deviled eggs recipe includes just a few simple ingredients so you can make them anytime you want.

Classic Deviled Eggs Recipe

I recently shared my egg salad recipe. Since we still had leftover eggs from Easter, I decided to make some deviled eggs the other night to go with our burgers. Spring is finally here and with it comes grilling weather! (I'm excited to make grilled chicken soon.) Another yummy side dish is my pasta salad.

If you hard boil the eggs before hand, it's really pretty quick to turn them into deviled eggs.

How to Make Deviled Eggs

I'm going to walk you through the process, including how I boil my eggs. The recipe is at the end of the post.

Simple Deviled Eggs

Step 1 - Boil the eggs

There are many techniques to use to hard boil your eggs. My favorite method is now the instant pot method.

How to make hard boiled eggs in the instant pot.

Place the rack in the bottom of the instant pot. Add eggs. You want to make sure the eggs are not touching each other. I can fit about 9 eggs in mine. Add 1 cup of water. Put the lid on and cook on high pressure for 8 minutes. Release the steam. Then place the eggs in a bowl of ice water until cool.

If you don't have an instant pot, don't worry. Amy from Bellyfull has this great post on how to make perfect hard boiled eggs. This is similar to how I used to make them before I got my instant pot.

Step 2 - Separate the yolks from the white of the egg

Slice the egg in half lengthwise. Remove the yolk and place in a bowl.

Step 3 - Make the filling

Mash the yolks with a fork. Add mayo, salad dressing, mustard and salt and pepper (keep reading for exact measurements). Stir to combine.

Step 4 - Add filling back into egg whites.

Spoon the filling onto the egg white. You can get fancy and pipe them in. They look really pretty that way. However I have no patience for that, so I just use a spoon. Sprinkle with paprika.

Deviled eggs are pretty easy to make and so tasty. When's the last time you made them? Do you have a secret ingredient?

I'm pretty plain Jane when in comes to deviled eggs - I mean why mess with a good thing. But maybe I'm missing out.  I'd love to know you're extra add-ins. Bacon pieces might be yummy!
