Rag Top Burpcloths

You might remember this fabric from my Striped Rag Top Baby Blanket.  If you made the blanket, you should be able to make three burpcloths from your flannel scraps.

First cut your pieces. For each burp cloth you will need:
2 pieces 7" x 18
4 pieces 3 1/2" x 18

Lay out your two large pieces, wrong sides together. Then lay two small pieces, wrong sides together on top.  Stitch. Repeat with other side.

Do not do this! Unless you want to unpick it;) You want to have your raggedy edges both on the same side.

If your ends are a little crooked,

Trim them off.

Stitch all the way around the burpcloth.

Clip along all stitching.

Then wash and dry and you're done!!

I did make three but the first one I made a different way and I didn't end up liking it. Here it is.

It's just not how I pictured it would be.

Stick with the Rag Top - much cuter!!

Make a rag quilt with this tutorial.

  1. Too cute! I don't mind using my cloth diapers as burp cloths at home but (silly me) I like having something a little cuter to keep in the diaper bag. Thanks!

  7. Love these burp cloths. I have several pieces of flannel- too small for the stripped rag blanket, but perfect for this. Thanks
