Twine Wrapped Star - {12 days of CHRISTmas Ornaments}

Today's ornament is a twine wrapped star.

Twine Wrapped Star Ornaments"and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy." Matt. 2:9-10

To make the star ornaments you will need:

star shaped cookie cutters {I used metal ones}
hot glue

 Start off with a long piece of twine. Add a dab of hot glue to the cookie cutter. Attach the twine and start wrapping. I only added more hot glue when I felt like it needed it to stay in place. Mostly at the tips of the star. If you run out of twine, just get a new piece and continue wrapping. Once it was done, I cut a small piece of twine and tied with a knot to form a loop for hanging.

I love these stars. This is the kind of star I think of when I think of the star in the east.

Of course they were harder to wrap, so I mostly did regular stars.

Twine Wrapped Star Ornaments
These stars were super easy, but a little time consuming.

  1. I LOVE these!!! They're so pretty, and look like they could be store-bought, they're so good! :)
    I'd love for you to come by and link up at our Holiday link party here:
    Thank you for the inspiration!

  2. Lovely! I adore crafting with twine, but I never thought about doing wrapped stars.

  3. I love these! I am part of a MOPS group, and we are wanting to do something like this as a craft. Do you have any idea how much twine is required for each star?

    1. I'm sorry, it's been a few years since I made these, I don't remember how much twine I used for each star. I made 4 stars using a large spool of twine and I had a lot of twine leftover.

  4. I have a guy friend who loves Christmas, but lives alone so doesn't do a lot of decorating. This year for Christmas, I am doing my own version of the 12 days of Christmas. I bought a 3' tree and am making ornaments for it...I will give him the tree on the 12th day before Christmas....then every after up to Christmas Eve, he will get handmade ornaments to put on the tree, then on Christmas Day he will get his big gift from me. I think these stars are perfect!
